About the Book
“Choose to Right” is a self-help style book based on a journal that Andrew kept while he was in prison. This journal outlined everything that Andrew learned about himself and the dynamics of change throughout his own journey and personal transformation. This book is designed to help those struggling to turn their life around to reach their goals and become successful and responsible.
“Criminals see the world through a tainted lens.” And, it is this “criminal viewpoint” and the associated errors in thinking and perception that combine to perpetuate irresponsible and criminal behavior. Criminal behavior, then, is simply a choice which is based on this criminal point-of-view.
“Irresponsible behavior and crime are the result of a series of psychological mechanisms and errors in thought and perception, which combine to distort reality to the point that a particular irresponsible or criminal act seems justifiable, acceptable, or even necessary.”
Andrew recognized that most criminals have the same erroneous paradigms, and changing them drives behavioral change more effectively than any punishment, rehabilitation program, or sheer willpower ever could.
Section 1 “What is Wrong with Me?” consists of 7 chapters that help readers understand this criminal point of view and outlines over 40 different errors in thinking and perception that contribute to irresponsible behavior and crime.
Section 2 “The Dynamics of Change”, which covers the final 4 chapters of the book, provides tools for overcoming these errors in thinking and perception that have been proven to work. Andrew’s life today is a living testimonial to the fact that there is a way for anyone who is weary of carrying the burden of poor choices to overcome their past and create a productive and happy life one choice at a time.
